Many Club Pogo players avoid poker and there are many reasons for this. Poker tournamnets are perhaps the greatest multiplayer challenge on the internet today, but they don't fit with Pogo's ethos so Pogo's implementation of so-called poker tournaments is little more than a joke. Another reason is that poker only really works when played for money and, of course, pogo replaces money with tokens which takes the edge off winning and losing in most Pogo poker games. Texas Hold'em is without question the most popular poker game online and although Pogo offers Texas Hold'Em its limit structures are poor removing very many nuances and possible moves from the game.

So why is it worth playing poker on Pogo? There are well over 30 weekly personal challenge badges to be had amongst the various Club Pogo poker offerings. So, any player looking to build his or her badge collection will soon be unable to ignore poker on Pogo.

To sum up; the main reason to play poker on Pogo is that there are plenty of badges to be won playing the various Pogo poker games, but many of them are hard to learn, especially Texas Hold'Em and Omaha poker if you are a beginner. Pogo's version of tournament poker is not at all worth-while and the video poker games are as boring as most slot games are. Having said that, if you enjoy slots, then Pogo's video poker offerings are better than most.

Our recommendation is that if you really want to have fun playing poker online, especially Texas Hold'Em, cash games or proper multiplayer tournament poker, then you should join one of the many specialised internet online poker sites. There are dozens to choose from and almost all allow you to play for free while you get to know the games. If you are going to play seriously then you should choose one of the better sites such as PokerStars.

Pogo Poker Games Strategies and Tips for Winning Poker Badges
Texas Hold'Em
8 weekly badges on offer. One of the trickier games to learn, but well worth the effort. Basically a stud game with 5 shared cards in the middle of the board and each player is dealt two cards. The game progresses over four betting rounds and those left in at the end show down the best 5 card hand they can make from the 2 in their hand and the 5 on the board.
Pai Gow Poker
6 weekly badges on offer. In the game the dealer plays the player who makes up a 5 card 'front' hand and a two card 'back' hand. The player must win both hands to win, and the skill comes in balancing the two hands in order to do that. A fascinating game and the only poker game that is fun to play on your own against the computer.
High Stakes Poker
7 weekly badges on offer. Perhaps the easiest poker game to learn on Pogo. it is basically 5 card draw with just 4 players and the option of deuces as wild cards. This option allows for many bigger hands to be achieved and is essential for winning some badges which demand a set number of hands being won by, say, a flush or better.
Omaha Poker
3 weekly badges on offer. 6th Street Omaha poker is by far the most difficult to understand Poker game on Pogo. Omaha poker is tricky already without the decision whether or not to take a 6th card on the board. Don't even begin to look at this game until you have fully mastered Texas hold'Em.
Video Poker
There are four types of video poker to be played on Pogo, all of which offer one of more badge(s). Double Deuce Poker - 4 weekly badges on offer. Jacks or Better Poker - 1 weekly badge offered. Jokers Wild Poker - 2 weekly badges offered and Lost Temple Poker - 4 weekly badges on offer.
No Limit Poker
1 weekly badge on offer. This is Pogo's version of tournament poker. There are only 4 players to start with, each has 5,000 tokens and you play until only one player, the winner, has tokens left. Not much of a game really.
